Privacy Policy
The short version: Noteify keeps your sign-in, what you play and the lists you make, so your library and history follow you between devices. We do not sell any of it, we show no ads, and deleting your account erases all of it thirty days after you ask.
1. Overview
WhatIsYourLife LLC ("we," "us," or "our") makes Noteify, a music player app for Android, and the shared song pages it serves at noteify.whatisyourlife.com (together, the "Service"), and operates whatisyourlife.com, where this policy is published. This Privacy Policy explains what information Noteify collects, how we use it, and your rights. Noteify is in testing and not yet publicly released; this policy applies to every build of it.
2. Information We Collect
Account Authentication. You sign in with Google or with an email address and password. In each case we receive your email address, and where Google supplies one, your name, through Google Firebase Authentication. This is used solely to authenticate your account and identify your data in our systems.
Listening History and Library. Noteify records what you play so that your history, your library and your listening stats work and follow you between devices. For every track you start, it records the track's identifier, title, artist, copyright line and licence notice, a link to the track's public page, when the play started and how it ended. It also records the tracks you save and the playlists you build, the artists you follow, the tracks you mute with Don't play this again, each time the app comes to the front, and each action you take in the app, by type, such as a save or a skip. Every record is stored under your account's internal identifier in Google Firestore. No record holds your email address or your name.
Reports. If you report a track, we keep the report under your account's internal identifier together with the reason you chose.
The Analytics Copy. A copy of the records above is streamed to Google BigQuery, our analytics store, where your listening stats are computed. A daily export also lists each account's internal identifier, when it was created, when it last signed in and which sign-in method it uses. The copy holds the same records under the same identifier; it never holds your email address or your name.
What the Music Servers See. Noteify does not host music. When you search, browse or play, your phone talks directly to the Audius catalogue and to the servers that stream its music. Like any web server, they receive your device's network address and the requests it makes, under Audius's own privacy policy. Noteify holds no account with Audius on your behalf and sends Audius nothing about your account.
Shared Song Pages. From the app you can share a song as a link. The link opens a page at noteify.whatisyourlife.com that plays that one song, and anyone with the link can open it without an account. Noteify keeps no record of who shared a song or who opened it. The page is served by Google's Firebase Hosting, which keeps its standard request logs, including the network address a request came from, under Google's Privacy Policy. To play the song, the visitor's browser talks directly to the Audius catalogue and to the servers that stream its music, which receive the same things described above. The page sets no cookies and includes no analytics.
Server Logs. Noteify's own cloud functions, which compute your stats and handle account deletion, run on Google Cloud, which keeps standard request logs, including the network address a request came from, for up to 30 days.
What we do NOT collect:
- Card, bank, or billing details: Noteify has no purchases or subscriptions today
- Your contacts, photos, location or microphone: the app asks for none of these permissions. It asks only for internet access, the network state, and permission to show its playback notification
- Analytics or crash reports from third-party libraries: none are included in the app
- Advertising profiles: we do not build them or sell your data
- Data from children under 13
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Authenticate and maintain your account
- Show your history, saved tracks, playlists, followed artists and muted tracks on every device you sign in on
- Compute and show your listening stats
- Build the features that learn from listening, such as your stats today and recommendations later, using your records for your own features and totals across all listeners for anything shown to everyone
- Respond to your support requests and honour your deletion request
We do not use your data for advertising, for profiling on behalf of anyone else, or for training AI models, and we never sell it.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Information reaches a third party only in these circumstances:
- Service Providers: Google, whose Firebase and Cloud services provide sign-in, the database, the cloud functions, the analytics store and the hosting for shared song pages (governed by Google's Privacy Policy).
- The Catalogue: Audius, whose servers your phone contacts directly to search, browse and stream, as described above. We send them nothing about your account.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Business Transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition. We will notify you in advance.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Your records are kept while your account exists. You can delete your account from inside the app: open the account sheet, tap Delete account, then Delete my account. Your account and everything Noteify holds about you is then deleted thirty days later. Signing in again before then, on any device, or tapping Keep my account on the account sheet, cancels the deletion.
After the thirty days we delete your sign-in, every record in our database and every copy in our analytics store, in stages that finish within a few hours. What remains is a record that the deletion happened, holding your account's internal identifier and the dates, with nothing you listened to. Our analytics provider keeps deleted rows recoverable for up to fourteen days as part of its own backup window, after which they are gone from everywhere.
For step-by-step instructions, including how to request deletion if you no longer have access to the app, see Delete Account.
6. Security
All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS (TLS) connections and is encrypted at rest on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase security rules restrict every record to the account that created it: no other listener can read or write it. As the operator, WhatIsYourLife LLC can reach the database and the analytics store with administrative access, which we use to run the Service and to honour deletions; the records there carry your account's internal identifier, never your email address or name. No electronic storage or transmission method is 100% secure.
7. Your Rights
You have the following rights with respect to your data:
- Access: Your history, saved tracks, playlists, followed artists, muted tracks and listening stats are visible in the app at any time.
- Correction and removal: You can unsave a track, take a track out of a playlist, delete a playlist, unfollow an artist and unmute a track in the app. Listening history cannot be edited or cleared in the app today; it is deleted with your account.
- Deletion: You can delete your account from the account sheet in the app, as described above.
- Export: There is no export in the app today. To request a copy of your records, contact support@whatisyourlife.com.
To exercise any right not covered above, contact support@whatisyourlife.com.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. The Effective Date at the top reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
