Delete your LifeBinder account

Delete your whole LifeBinder account, or clear the sections you choose and keep the account. Both happen inside the app, and neither can be undone.

Delete your LifeBinder account

Deleting your account erases everything LifeBinder holds for you and closes your sign-in. It runs the moment you confirm, usually takes a minute or two, and cannot be reversed.

Before you delete

If you have journal entries you want to keep, open Journal, then Stats, and export them as a text, Markdown or printable file. No other section has an export, so take screenshots of anything else you want to keep.

How to delete your account in the app
  1. Sign in to LifeBinder on your phone, or in a browser at app.whatisyourlife.com.
  2. Tap your name or initial at the top of the app, then Profile & settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom, to Danger Zone, and tap it to open it.
  4. Tap Delete My Account.
  5. Type DELETE in the box. If you pay for LifeBinder, the same screen reminds you to cancel your subscription in Google Play first.
  6. Tap Delete My Account. Keep the app open until it says Account deleted, and you are signed out.

What is deleted

Erased
Everything you entered
Every entry in every section: calendar, lists, events, people, family, journal, notes and the rest. It goes from our servers and from the device you delete on.
Photos and files
Every photo, document and image you uploaded, including trip files, journal photos, party images, the schedule photos you imported and wishlist photos.
Share links
Every public page and link you created for lists, wishlists, schedules and parties, including party web addresses. The RSVPs and gift claims guests left on those pages go with them.
Invitations
Connection and family invitations you sent, and any that were sent to your email address.
Google Calendar access
LifeBinder's access to your Google Calendar is revoked at Google, and the saved connection is deleted.
Family plan
A family plan you own is closed and every seat on it is released. A seat you hold in someone else's plan is released too.
Purchase record
The record that ties your Google Play or App Store purchase to this account, so the purchase is not left attached to a deleted account.
Usage record
The usage record we keep for support: sign-in times and which screens you visited.
Your sign-in
Your sign-in record, so the same email can start again later with a blank account.
On this device
Your encryption passphrase, if you saved one on the device, and every local copy of your data.
In other people's accounts
Your name and email come off the collaborator lists of things they shared with you. Kid schedules you shared with a co-parent are removed from their calendar.

What is kept

Stays
Your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play or App Store subscription or free trial. Cancel it in the store first, or you keep being charged for an account that no longer exists.
Events in Google Calendar
Events LifeBinder added to your Google Calendar stay there. Only LifeBinder's access is removed.
What you added to other people's things
Items you put on a list or trip that someone else owns stay with the owner.
Family members' own data
If you own a family plan, the people on it keep what they added. Their accounts become read only unless they subscribe.
How long it takes

Deletion starts the moment you confirm and usually finishes within a minute or two, while the app shows Deleting your account. There is no waiting period and nothing can be recovered afterwards.

If the app says one more sign-in is needed, your data is already erased and only the sign-in record is left. Sign out, sign back in, and run Delete Account once more to finish.

If the app says some data may still be on our servers, email support@whatisyourlife.com and we will finish erasing it.

If you can no longer sign in

Email support@whatisyourlife.com from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it. We confirm the account is yours, delete it, and reply when it is done.

Partial deletion

Delete some of your LifeBinder data

Reset Data clears the sections you choose back to empty and keeps everything else, including your account. It lives in the same Danger Zone as Delete Account.

How to reset sections in the app
  1. Sign in to LifeBinder, tap your name or initial at the top of the app, then Profile & settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom, to Danger Zone, tap it to open it, then tap Reset Data.
  3. Tick the sections you want to clear, or tap Select All. There is one row for each section in your app, such as Calendar, Lists, Events, Family or Journal.
  4. Tap Reset Selected. A box titled Reset Data? lists the sections and, when it applies, how many notes go and what happens to your Google Calendar events.
  5. Tap Reset Data to confirm. Keep the app open until it reloads, because a reset that has started cannot be cancelled.

What a reset removes

Erased
The sections you ticked
Every entry in those sections, cleared to empty everywhere you use LifeBinder. It starts the moment you confirm and is finished when the app reloads.
Share links
Public pages for those sections are turned off first: shared lists, wishlists, kid schedules, custody schedules and party pages. If a link cannot be turned off, the reset stops before your entries are cleared.
Schedules you shared
When you reset Family, kid schedules you shared with a co-parent are withdrawn from their calendar.
Calendar entries from other sections
Kid events, trips and parties shown on your Calendar are removed along with their section.
Files
Trip documents and trip photos are deleted with each trip, and schedule images are deleted when you reset Family. Photos attached to journal entries, wishlist items and parties stay in storage until you delete your account.
Google Calendar
If Google Calendar sync is on and you reset Calendar, Family or Events, the box offers to also remove the matching events from your Google Calendar. If you leave it unticked, or more than 20 events are involved, they stay in Google Calendar.

What a reset keeps

Stays
Your account
Your sign-in, your profile and your settings, including the layout of your Home screen.
Other sections
Every section you did not tick. Notes are their own row, so resetting Family leaves Family's notes in place until you also reset Notes.
Your subscription
Your subscription or trial is untouched. If it has ended, the app asks you to subscribe before it resets anything other than Calendar, while deleting your whole account never needs a subscription.
Encryption
Your passphrase and encryption settings stay as they are. Entries in an encrypted section are cleared like any other.
Connections
Your connections with other people, anything they shared with you, and your Google Calendar connection.
Erase encrypted data

If you turned on encryption and forgot your passphrase, Danger Zone shows Erase Encrypted Data, and the passphrase screen offers the same under Forgot your passphrase. You type DELETE to confirm.

It permanently deletes everything in your encrypted sections, which are Family, Journal, Love, People and Pets, then turns encryption off. Calendar, custody and kid schedules, lists, parties and trips, notes, checklists, notifications and settings are kept.

Disconnect Google Calendar

To remove only LifeBinder's access to your Google Calendar, open Settings, then Calendar Connections, then Google Calendar, and tap Disconnect. LifeBinder revokes its access at Google, deletes the saved connection and stops showing your Google events, while your LifeBinder events and everything already in Google Calendar stay.

You can also remove LifeBinder from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com.
